In Japan, calligraphy words of meaningful characters and phrases are displayed in homes, offices, temples and dojos as decoration and to provide inspiration.
Shodō, or Japanese calligraphy, is an ancient art form which is deeply connected to many aspects of Japanese culture, including tea ceremony and Zen Buddhism.
About me
I am a Cambridge-based British artist specialising in Japanese shodō calligraphy.
While living in Yokohama, Japan, I studied Japanese calligraphy with an award-winning tutor. Since returning to the UK I continue to practice this art form.
